It consolidates the operational-risk foundation developed through Level 3 Operational Risk and Level 4 Managing Operational Risk in Financial Institutions, then applies management judgement across products, trading, settlement, regulation, risk governance, asset servicing and custody.

This course follows the latest official syllabus located and reviewed for 2026. The three-hour written paper has compulsory short-answer questions worth 25%, one compulsory operational case study worth 35%, and two questions selected from five worth 40%. Section C may require reports, memoranda or letters, so preparation must combine technical breadth with practical analysis and concise professional communication.

CISI is withdrawing GOM after the Winter 2026 session. The final sitting is 26 November 2026 and CISI strongly recommends it for resit candidates only. Candidates should confirm their eligibility and the latest official syllabus and candidate updates for their sitting.
